AES Clean Technology new modular cleanroom manufacturing facility

MONTGOMERYVILLE, Pennsylvania – AES Clean Technology, a leading provider of high-performance cleanroom facilities within the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical industry, today announced a $14.2 million investment to open a new manufacturing facility located in Manheim Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

The new state-of-the-art facility will see 97 full-time jobs created and will serve as a manufacturing hub for its modular cleanroom systems. As part of the project, AES will carry out building renovations, purchase the latest production technologies to manufacture its cleanroom products, and train new employees.

This new manufacturing site will be phased into operation in the coming year and will compliment AES’ existing manufacturing capabilities in Suwanee, GA, and will further expand AES’ production capabilities to match industry growth, particularly from those clients responsible for the manufacturing of COVID-19 treatments and advanced bio-therapeutics.

Grant Merrill, CEO of AES Clean Technology commented, “We are proud to expand upon our 35-year presence in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as we continue the mission of helping our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients save lives through the therapies that they manufacture inside our cleanroom facilities.”

“It’s an important factor to us, and our customers, that we directly control the manufacturing of these critical cleanroom systems. This investment is evidence of our ongoing commitment to controlling all aspects of the supply chain as we bring cleanroom facilities to life for our clients.”

The company received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for a $485,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $97,000 workforce development grant to help the company train workers. As part of this project, AES has committed to investing $14.2 million into the project and creating at least 97 new jobs over the next five years.

“We are excited that AES has chosen Lancaster County, and specifically Manheim Borough, for its expansion project,” said Lisa Riggs, president of the economic development company of Lancaster County. “Manufacturing remains one of our top two local industries, and AES brings new products and technologies that will strengthen and help grow the sector.”

The company will retain the existing 95 jobs at its headquarters in Montgomery County and current manufacturing operations in Suwanee, GA.
