Role Summary

The VDC Engineer will be a member of the VDC team and will be responsible for helping drive successful project execution using various VDC tools and quality checks, while supporting the design team with VDC related tasks, and will report directly to the VDC Manager.

The VDC Engineer will work closely with the design and project teams to ensure effective integration, utilization, and training of VDC tools to enhance project planning, and design. The VDC Engineer may also support the sales and estimating teams with VDC related tasks and deliverables.

Qualifications: Education and Experience (Required and Preferred)

Required

  • Associates Degree in a CAD related field, design, or construction or Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Technology or Management, or Engineering Discipline
  • 5-7 years’ experience in VDC, BIM, Construction or Engineering position(s)
  • Advanced experience in Revit, including an advanced understanding of family creation
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud tools and model worksharing
  • Proficient in Navisworks Manage
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams)
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects

Preferred

  • Experience working within the design and/or construction fields or familiarity with fabrication processes.
  • Experience with laser scanning products
  • Understanding of field layout technology
  • Understanding of MEP systems
  • Proficient in Dynamo

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities will include:
    • Conducting clash detection between the AES models and external design disciplines for internal design coordination, as well as external trade coordination
    • Conducting quality control checks on models and project deliverables to verify accuracy and alignment to the BIM Execution Plan as well as adherence to internal VDC standards.
    • Providing training and support to the design team on VDC tools, processes, and best practices
    • Maintaining Revit templates and family libraries
    • Working closely with the estimating team and procurement to ensure model metrics and parameters are aligned with cost data
    • Producing visuals for use in the pursuit phase of projects, including 3D renderings, animated walkthroughs, and Virtual reality compatible models
    • Understanding and implementing client requirements for as-built model data development
  • Additional internal responsibilities will include:
    • Identifying and implementing opportunities for efficiency improvements in VDC related design workflows using dynamo script creation or other innovative solutions/applications.
    • Identifying and implementing Revit family library optimizations, including model parameters for:
      • Fabrication data
      • Cost and estimating data
      • Parametric model properties
      • Work-in-place tracking
