PENN Medicine created its Clinical Cell and Vaccine Production Facility within the South Tower of the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine located in the heart of PENN’s campus in Philadelphia. The CVPF includes administrative, research, development, and GMP manufacturing operations within this sixteen-story building, and is the birthplace of Kymriah, the FDA-approved treatment for pediatric ALL and large B-cell lymphoma.  The facility includes a custom-designed and constructed Clinical Manufacturing cleanroom core for producing PENN’s cell and gene therapy candidates.  The GMP manufacturing suite was developed from its inception by AES, leveraging our expertise in immunotherapy manufacturing facilities that are breaking down barriers for patients with life-threatening illnesses.  The AES project features included:

  • AES Pharma Modular Architectural Envelope
  • Dedicated Mechanical Systems and HEPA Filtration to create isolated suites for multi-product and multi-patient manufacturing
  • Flush cleanroom Window Details Coordinated with South Tower’s Curtain Wall System to Preserve Views of the Philadelphia Skyline
  • Integration of Process Utilities within the Cleanroom Suite
  • Custom Pass-Thru Chambers
  • Epoxy Flooring with Radius Coving
  • Cleanroom Lighting and Electrical Distribution
  • Engineering, Site Project Management
  • Cleanroom commissioning
